Description

The lion is a powerful symbol of strength, leadership, and protection — often called the King of the Jungle for good reason. In many African cultures, lions represent courage and are seen as guardians of the land. Our majestic lion sculpture captures this noble spirit with bold color and recycled creativity, hand-carved by our Kenyan artisans using discarded flip-flops collected from coastlines and waterways.

Whether placed indoors or out, this sculpture is a commanding presence — a reminder of nature’s grandeur, and the impact of mindful design. It’s not just upcycled art — it’s a statement for ocean conservation, a celebration of African craftsmanship, and a commitment to a more sustainable future.

All our products are made from recycled flip-flops that are collected from the beaches, waterways and landfills in Kenya. These products are hand carved by Kenyan artisans and are all unique, therefore they will differ in colour from the image shown.
Every sculpture is more than just décor — it’s a piece of upcycled art that tells a story of transformation. From recycled flip-flop art to full-sized recycled art sculptures, each creation supports ocean conservation art, promotes ethical home decor, and makes a meaningful impact as part of our social enterprise in Kenya. These pieces are ideal as sustainable gifts that bring purpose, color, and creativity into any space.

About Our Process

For 3.5 billion people living below the poverty line, the flip flop remains the most affordable form of footwear. And as a result, most of them end up in the ocean.

Each year we aim to upcycle 1 million+ flip flops found washed up across the Kenyan beaches which our local artisans then turn into art.
